Details of how brushing with fluoride toothpaste helps prevent cavities, current tooth brushing technique, use of plaque disclosing tablets, demonstration and practice of ideal tooth brushing technique, demonstration and practice of dental floss technique, specific techniques for brushing children’s teeth, lift-the-lip exam, behavior management and motivation for brushing children’s teeth

Session 3

Details of the role of diet (types of food/drink, frequency, and bottle/sippy cup use) in causing and preventing cavities, how to transition away from the bottle/sippy cup, how to identify sugar in foods (nutrition labels) and healthy snack foods

Session 4

Details of the role of professional dental care in prevention and treatment of cavities, process of making appointments and attending dental checkups, overview of dental treatments (from prevention through restorations), dental behavior management techniques, making children feel comfortable at the dental visit, local resources, review game, certificates of course completion
